1/3rd of a song I just wrote, really just an improv - the whole song was too big a file to upload. The upload is the first two minutes or so. Hear the full song at: http://sylvanpoet.com/music/psycho_acid_trance.mp3 let me know if you like it!! This version 2:01 mins, full version 6:24 mins (approx.)
Do you like this tune?
This is my first recorded jam with the X50, cool or suck?
tbh ..
it started cool .. hope you don't get mad at me .. but after that it started it's decline , plenty of notes that shouldn't be there ( i don't know to play the piano or something similar .. don't know if it's the right term ) , it's a bit chaotic
my bad
dammit double post by accident :)
Pump up the volume
i like it, it reminds me of early acid house. I wanted it to go on longer though, like for another half hour (o: 6/5
Chaos
I wouldn't get mad at you for offering your opinion. :o) I agree the song is a bit chaotic. I was purposely being frenetic and sometimes random in what was played. Plus it was totally improvised, so maybe some things worked and some didn't. I liked the way it turned out well enough to keep it. I may go through it and see what parts seem to work best and do a song with more structure and less randomness, perhaps. Happy Holidays!
Thanks!
Actually when I was playing with the sounds I think I played a 40 minute version - wasn't recording at the time though. The recorded version came out better than I expected. Some of it is perhaps unstructured - but that was kinda what I was going for. :o)
This song inspired you and I
This song inspired you and I would have liked to have heard that 40 minute version, I bet it was full of acid if you know what I mean. I'll put this one on the player. If you guys want a graphic on your song for the player just upload a pic when you upload your audio just pick cover art or something like that. I can grab that pic and display it. Later on when I get lots of people interested in this site I will be placing some advertisements in this player and dividing the revenues up amongst the premium user artist. The songs will require a more stringent vote to get into the player but it will still be reasonable something like a 5 votes with a rank of 5 to get in. I thought this would be a great way to help Artist and Bands out some, like a little club kitty thing sorta like reverb does. Except the amounts will be a larger percentage and also a larger percentage per songs listed on the player, more songs more cash earned from those ad revenues. This will be at a later date, site has to grow some first. Do you guys even use the player? I know it's not a personal play list type of player. It is more of a site wide player playing all artists and it's main focus is to let anonymous bi standers take a listen and view it. I will be implementing a personal play list feature type of player in the future. It's that Exposure thing, lots of times we think in terms of personal My this My that on sites and then what really happens is that we end up in this little tunnel somewhere on a web site all personal and all, nobody but our buddies hear or see us, this is cool but it gets us no wide breadth exposure and in the end gives us no way to pay the bills and/or live the dream we see ourselves in. Exposure is the premise of this sites original intentional design. Musicians helping Musicians get that exposure. It's a build up process, multi level marketing does not only apply to widgets, it can also apply to people as well. You see it is not about money per say, albeit money is the icing on the cake. The cake is marketing or exposure. An artist really isn't concerned about making money usually but they are usually interested in exposure. Now give me some more of that acid OK.

I use the player but i
I use the player but i reckon it would get more use from guests and memembers if it were on the front page and immediately accesable.
I could do that like I
I could do that like I originally had it, however when you go do something else because of the nature of static pages the player will stop and go away. I could have the player pop up on entering the site and then either start automatically or just sit there waiting for you to start it. Or I could create another more vertically looking one and set it to the right or left and have it visible from all pages all of the time? that might do the trick. What do you think, I think that is what reverbs right side player does except they use a wider custom screen layout which is beyond my ability at this time. Makes you wonder what this site may look like in the future. I don't want to bother my programmer friend with any other projects, he has his hands full right now. I do agree with you on this, I think people would use it more and I also think it would be more attractive to advertisers as well.

Well actually this idea of
Well actually this idea of putting it on the right side won't do any good either because of page loads which will cause the player to stop too. I could load it up on entering the site but for some people the player may sit behind the screen and they might not be aware of it there unless I start it automatically which annoys lots of people too. Just can't seem to win here haha. Reverb actually works pretty much the same way I have it now. They show what looks like a player to the right that displays an iframe of info from a database, but then when you click on the play button it pops up just like the one here on our site does. I could dress this up to look more like a player I guess. This is giving me some good ideas actually.

Ticker
Yup, dressing it up as a player is the best idea i reckon. just like the reverb playa. Would it be possible to add some sort of moving info ticker to the fake player to catch the eye? its already in the best place possible. Top right is the best part to advertise in newspapers cos it catches eyes straight away. but an info ticker would make me read whats there, i reckon most people would. But it dont matter if you cant put one there cos as i said its in the best place already.
More gas please nurse.
Lol
Lol Sorry Necro it seems weve hijacked your tune page to chat about music widgets lol
Why not
While checking out some of the random tunes on the right side panel of the site, I found myself here on this almost a year old thread. Hey Why not? Have you ever been embarrassed to actually reply on a thread that is way old, haha. The way I see it is, if you can read it, that means it is still worth writing to it. I was reading the earlier part of this thread about how long the original improv was, and yea I can relate to that very much. My RIAA Rough draft posting is from an improve that is a much longer version than the one I posted, way longer. This is great for coming back at a later date and chopping some cool pieces from sometimes. I'm going to grab your longer version and take a listen to it, and in the mean time I am still looking for my longer version too. It's on some CD backup somewhere. When I get this site over to another larger server space I am going to allow for up to 10MB file size uploads via an ftp module, and if you need a bit larger file upload just request it and I will put it up for you.

Acid on Vodka
Well, it's an experimental tune in disguise - although the instrumentation is Acid-like, the main spirit of this song is rather psychodelic. When it starts, one could expect one of these Trance tunes, some of them being sort of psychodelic too, but in a more techincal way, I mean they got strange sounds/rhythm while all notes are right in key.
Yours is leading in another direction: while sounds/rhythm stay familiar, the notes are getting crazy. Reminds me to some Free Jazz improvisation - not everyone can deal with such style, haha. So I'm not surprised about Todd's comment.
Long Songs
Edit and LMAO - me thinks I was more asleep than awake when I typed the original post. I didn't realize the Ambien had kicked in quite so much, but that is part of the nature of it. So...
This song came out really long probably because I was drinking vodka at the time and got pretty blitz throughout the song - which is probably another reason it gets sloppier towards the end.
Psychedelic
Good call, the song is played on a preset on my synth called "Velo Psychedelic". The "velo" part of the preset is that different things are triggered depending on how hard you play. Some of it is decidedly random playing, but still keeping in mind how the arp plays when certain things are done. Some things worked, some not so well, perhaps. But I still liked the song as a whole. I hadn't had my synth for very long at the time I recorded it, maybe a couple of weeks, so I thought it was a decent effort in figuring out some things the keyboard would do.
