Asaguare - Forever Ends Tonight

Asaguare's picture

Slow pop ballad about two friends who lost their dream.

Wrote it when I was in a rather sentimental mood. So it turned out quite simple and technically far from perfect (jolty vocals, monotonous backing synth, suboptimal balanced tracks). However, after having listened to the draft mixdown twice, I didn't mind, cos my basic intention was to carry the lyrics. On the other hand - if you're in such a weepy disposition you don't care for details.

The short spoken words clip (at the end of the chorus) is a kind contribution of Splicer mate Of_The_Ego.

I like it

I like the song. It could perhaps use a little polish, but a very good song nonetheless.

lovely

I just can't get enough of this song. This one sends chills up and down my spine, it has so much meaning in it. In my opinion this one really needs some air time on some major broadcast stations. I usually try to stay neutral and everybody has put up some great tunes here, but this one touches my heart. Asa you are truly an asset to this site.

Forever Ends Tonight

Well, normally I'm preparing and constructing alot during song composition - usually I need 3 or 4 days of twiddling and testing before publishing. Sometimes one might hear all the complex work behind (like in Lucid Dream), sometimes one might not (like in Bloody Letters).
In the case of Forever Ends Tonight I prepared almost nothing. You can say it was a quickie, haha. Just wrote down the descending bass line (with progressing chords C, G, Am, G, F, Em, Dm7, G7) and a simple D/F-bridge directly into the sequencer's synth piano roll, recorded my lyrics and a short guitar solo, and finally dropped a couple of additional clips (drums, strings etc.) mainly to fill gaps. All this happened in one go and took about a single hour - actually I just wanted to check out Of_The_Ego's vocal clip.
Strangely enough, such quickly produced songs seem to turn out quite well. There's another one, named Where The Duck, which was meant as kinda joke and took me about only one hour, but raised to position #1 on Splice (top rated / all time) within one week.
May be the reason for this phenomenon is spontaneity and light heartedness while sequencing, free from expectations and scepticism.
