Asaguare - Tu Es Mon Soleil

French chanson style pop song (with english refrain, feat. fenix)

Recently searching for vocal clips on Splice, I stumbled upon Fenix singing 'You are my sunshine' which pretty amazed me, because it's one of the very first sounds she uploaded after her registration as Splice user... and we all thought she was a spoken word artist only, didn't we? Of course I had to take this opportunity to create a little duet, singing it with her as refrain. Since I actually wanted to write a typical french chanson at this time, I had to improvise a bit and made some french verses about this sun topic. Unfortunately I used my cheap headphones (no bass power) for mixdown... the result was a bass overdrive when played via hifi boxes. However, regarding the song's warm character, this unintended mellowness is barely acceptable.

Lyrics:
You are my sun, all days, all nights.
Doesn't matter when, what you do, what you say.
When you slumber, you're silence among the noises
For you're a haven, a haven of peace, my girl.
When you speak, it's like music,
When you dance, the angels are awakening.
Like you are, it's so wunderful,
Like you are, you are my sun.
You are my sun since the first time.
It was strange, I didn't have the choice.
They judge you as hard, but me, I don't believe them,
For you're the light, the brightest one for me.
All people are afraid of you and your mysticism.
When they talk big I turn a deaf ear.

There's something about singing in French

There's something about singing in French I really like. Probably some silly American thing the French would find gauche. Great song! I like the combination of both the vocals as well as the melody. Very nicely done!

Foreign language lyrics

English language is very dominant in music industry. That's one reason why I like non english lyrics. A second reason is the individual sounding of foreign languages which contributes a special atmosphere to a song.
Certainly, if your lyrics shall carry a specific message, maybe political, philosophical or ironical, then english is first choice. But honestly, look at the charts of english sung tunes, the portion of important texts is less than 10% - and that's still an optimistic esteem, haha.
