Well I think it is time to do some face lift work on the site. There are just to many text links and it has become a bit to wordy I think. I will be taking the site to a 2 column design instead of the current 3 column style and I will slowly be removing most of the text menus with a more graphic cube or button style look. I will be implementing these changes over the next few months. The online now area to the right will go away. Do you guys use the weather module yet? it has been here under your profile or account page for over a few months. I'm thinking of removing it to improve on bandwidth performance some. If you guys like it and use it I will let it stay. Jamacast Chat lounge is still handy for the most part so I will keep that for now. I have my eye on the gabbly chat system but it is not for my current version of site software. Who's new is OK for a fast growing population site but maybe not for us here yet, so I think I will remove that too. Besides the new user pages will have an area for all non premium users visually so you will be able to see who is new anyhow. Also you can always click the Jamacast users link to see too. Popular will stay and recent audio pretty much mirrors the main content area anyhow, so it should go away too. Recent blog post hum maybe to static maybe go bye bye? New jamacast forums pretty much a slow change there too must go bye bye maybe? You probably don't really need the my friends recent activity because you probably already know or can find that out just by looking at their profile or just main content browsing. Random audio and recent comments must stay however by design and marketing reasons. I will be graphic implementing more of the menu options but some are hard coded into the site software and will not allow me to remove them, I am still looking into that.
I have already coded the first part of the Jamacast Premium User Showcase and it is looking pretty good. Right now only I can see it for testing. It shows a black narrow window with all of the users pictures at a 75 X 75 thumb that get randomly generated in this window. The next part of my coding will allow audio play sample by hovering over them. I'm not so sure this is a good idea though ha ha quite the mash up possibly.
I'm looking into the Skype module for the site but the bandwidth could be an issue with this. I am going to be installing yet another content feature for individual collaborating posts. Still looking into this module it sounds good on the surface but maybe we will all just try it out too see if it is worth it or not. The third step in my coding will be when you click on the user pic thumb it takes you to that users personal back stage dressing room. you will have a feature on the account area called dressing room here you will have a butt load of options to use to decorate your dressing room. This dressing room will become your profile area. The area by default will have a drop down box with all kinds of studio back drops etc to choose from or you can link to your own background. All this is coming soon throughout this summer and into winter. Yep you will have your own player with check boxes for downloads and purchase options too.
We will build this site into the best possible musicians site ever in the long run. Oh yea while your here is this site too pretty? I mean all the lite color etc. Does it need a darker tone say black haha what do you all think as far as color scheme goes. You will be able to dress your personal profile page or the dressing room up with any color you like because I am going to build a color database that ties into a select box for you and once you select one it will determine the appropriate css file to use for color etc.
Don't get to excited right away, as you all probably have figured out already that I am not fast with this stuff. It is a learning curve for me with all of this stuff but I am a persistent little bastard.
Another thing I will be working on is a stand alone server at my own physical location to allow for unlimited disk storage space this will allow for us to offer everything up for free account all except for those who are interested in making money with their music through the collaborative process and advertising payouts that will eventually come in the future. This also will make it easier to attract advertisers because we will have more free users on the site.
Let me know what you think about all of this stuff.
Groove On!!!
