igtb - moonlit night #2

IGTB's picture

This is a song that I had remixed from a user contribution on splicemusic.com. When I returned later to see the credits and user related to this work, it could not be found. Asaguare informed me that this song was based on the work of Joseph von Eichendorff pictured above.

I almost feel ashamed of mixing the pre and post parts of this music to such a beautiful poem. The parts I mixed in this music, in my mind, is a complete stark contrast to the meaning of the poem itself. The parts I mixed, in my opinion, take on a very dark tone, almost scary and the poem itself is a very soulful romantic meaning. This is what can become of a song in which you experiment first before knowing what the lyrics might truly mean. The parts with the guitar and lyrics are a good match, but these parts were uploaded as a sound on splice when I found them so I had no control other than mixing other sounds to them at the time. Looking back now I think I could have picked a more pleasant sound choice. I am very sorry if I offended anyone by torturing this beautiful poem

So this song will be a dedication to his life and contribution to the world. To find out more information on this person follow the link I have provided to a wiki covering his life.

Here is a copy of the original poem:
Mondnacht

Es war, als hätt' der Himmel
Die Erde still geküßt,
Dass sie im Blütenschimmer
Von ihm nun träumen müßt'.

Die Luft ging durch die Felder,
Die Ähren wogten sacht,
Es rauschten leis' die Wälder,
So sternklar war die Nacht.

Und meine Seele spannte
Weit ihre Flügel aus,
flog durch die stillen Lande,
Als flöge sie nach Haus.

Translation by Asaguare:

It was as if heaven had silently kissed earth - So she had to dream of him in the blossoms gleam - Air went through the fields and corn waved gently - The woods rustled softly, so clear the starry night - And my soul stretched out its wings widely - Flew through the quiet lands as if it were flying home
