A short piece using my new synth. It's like a mellotron flute/strings with a beat. I just thought it sounded cool. I seem to like that old mellotron sound. (the Beatles "Strawberry Fields" intro sound type of thing) It's supposed to be a bit noisy, mellotron keyboards used loops of prerecorded tape to produce their sounds. They were possibly the first samplers.
A poem I had written, read wonderfully by Fenix. Musical additions by myself.
Starkly contrasted colors
Unpleasing to the eye
Clashing, breaking symmetry
No rhyme or reason why
Not for the sake of itself
Or for a dissonant, unresonate tune
Colors of sound descend
Crashing the silent room
Walls envelop your senses
Surrounded by discord
Shattering bitter silence
Awakening is its reward
Awareness is the outcome
Shown true for you to see
Richly colored music
To show the harmony
I started a new song and this audio file is as far as my computer will let me get - :18 seconds of 7 tracks - if I try to add or extend the seq freezes.
Think it sounds good enough to continue (when I finally get the new computer set up)? I can't decide if I like it or if it sounds cheesy!
The first of some recordings I did around 1991 with a friend of mine on a cassette multi-track. Sound Q is not great, but I thought it may be interesting to have a listen. Me on guitar my friend on bass and drum machine programming.
Second of the 1991 recordings. I don't remember why we called this "The Hippie Song"
Third of the 1991 recordings, another mysterious title.
The fourth and probably best recorded song from the 1991 collection. It goes on a bit long at the end - we didn't have a good ending
The title comes from the voc sample in the middle. Just trying out running the sequencer and some demo soft synths & FX.
Yeah, it's an old Splice tune of mine. It's the first song I did that didn't sound like a bunch of things thrown together (I'd like to think it was skill, but may have been a good part luck). It's been a while since I'd listened to it. Thought maybe some of y'all hadn't caught it and might like to hear. I'm working on a couple of new things I'll hopefully upload in the next few days. (That's my doggie with the huge rawhide on the track page)
I redid one of my old songs, seeing if I could get a decent guitar sound. Came out ok, I guess.
Jamming on an x50 preset, so it's imperfect, but I will probably just leave it be.
Music and vocal for Laika lyrics
I needed a break from writing my masterpiece (haha) so here's another simple trance tune. Simple cause it's like 3 or 4 notes with a beat and some arp going on. Enjoy it if you need to zone out for a while... it will probably trance you to sleep! lol!
You don't have to guess the name - but help me come up with a title for it. I don't know yet if it will be instrumental or have vocals. Maybe a good enough title will inspire me to write some lyrics. It's just a rough melody so far, but I like how it's going. Of course it may end up completely different when it's finished!
A tune - chill out, dude!
Just drumz
Anybody remember those console organs some people used to have in their living rooms. This X50 Combi setting reminded me of those. So I wrote a kinda cheesy short tune with it. :o)
Piano arpeggios and Pad - maybe too New Age?! ;op
This is another one I don't know what to do with. This is the full mix. It and the individual files are in my Collab folder, as well as over at Splice. Use them if they spark any interest for anything. In B, E, and G - 120 b pm, I think.
Asaguare's "Splicer's Blues" with organ and bass accompaniment, and added some room ambiance.
I got a new toy... um, instrument! A Korg Kaossilator. Here's my first song with it. I use the term song loosely, it's just a little loop I played only slightly coherent leads over. All comes straight from the Kaossilator. Give me a break, I've only had the thing for three hours! :op
Arpeggiated horns with loud drums. I think the arp (or my triggering of the arp) gets a little off the beat at times, but I kinda like it. I think I will work on the arrangement and make a more structured song out of it. I should begin to have more time for writing/recording now that my wife is about to go back to school (she's a teacher) - which means she'll have to start going to bed earlier - leaving me more times in the evenings to noodle. :op
Work in progress - time to do a rock song! The title is just what I happened to type when saving the .rpp file. I need to work on the arrangement and add some more interest to it. Maybe I'll try to write some lyrics too.
Ok, Ok... I need to start writing songs instead of just writing music. I like it, but it needs lyrics or something to help me figure out an arrangement. Maybe I should do soundtracks... I scored many an episode of "Angel" when I was watching the show on hulu.com. :o)
One midi file recorded as a live take - no piano roll note picking or editing - copied to three additional tracks - one soft synth per track (Korg M1Le, Ultra Analog Session, Alpha 3 free edition, and Motion) - Rendered as an mp3. If anyone wants to use it as anything, there is no bmp count. It was a freestyle improv.
Finally recorded a new song. I was just jamming along to a drum loop, and this is what came out of it. (I think I've used the drumloop before, probably should have picked a different one to jam to.)
A little experiment with arpeggios. Kinda ambient with drive. Maybe sounds like something that would be on a soundtrack or something.
A remix of Asaguare's delightful "Vevo". Remix done on Reaper sequencer, cause Splice is still not rendering, last I checked. I added a few things while trying to keep the original melody intact. I hope Asaguare doesn't mind my picking on one of his songs again! :o) They're all great to start off with.
Last year, probably about this time, Mamanfie from Splice asked the Splicers for some music that might fit with a horror short film project she was doing for her film class. Strangely enough, there is a preset on my guitar fx processor that is called "Horror Filmscore", that has a nice grating sound using harmonizer, delays, chorus and such. So I improvised a noisy guitar part then mixed in some Splice clips and came up with this result. Maybe a suitable contribution for the Halloween season. Don't play it too loud at first, the guitar is extremely noisy! I can't remember who to credit for the clips used and the Splice website isn't opening for me to have a look. Possibly Rig, Groovebox, and Compusician, though.
Acoustic guitar and MiniMoog V. It sounds like it could be an intro to a longer song. I guess I'll have to get working on that!
